Clifford K. Chiu is a corporate director, strategic advisor, and civic steward spanning finance, education, healthcare, transportation, social welfare, and the arts across the United States and Hong Kong. With over four decades on Wall Street, he has served as Senior Advisor to Vista Equity Partners and its executive committee since 2015. He currently sits on the boards of Acquia, Allvue Systems, Critical Start, Finastra, LogicMonitor, Securonix, and TRG Screen, among a total of 15 public and private company boards served over his career.
Mr. Chiu serves as a Commissioner on the City of Austin Airport Advisory Commission and participates in the U.S.–China Track II Dialogue on the Digital Economy convened by the National Committee on U.S.–China Relations. He previously served as a Commissioner on the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, on Hong Kong’s Financial Services Development Council, and on the Investment Committee of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.
A retired partner of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), Mr. Chiu founded and led Asia-Pacific capital raising and investor relations until 2014. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at J.P. Morgan Asset Management and Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup across New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, and previously served as Senior Advisor to Neuberger Berman Group.
A lifelong champion for education and healthcare, Mr. Chiu serves on the University of Texas at Austin’s International Board of Advisors and is a director or trustee of the Ascension Seton Foundation, the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, St. James Settlement, and the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce. He has endowed scholarships at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the University of Pennsylvania, Pomona College, the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and Hong Kong University Medical School — through which he is credited for mentoring hundreds of students and alumni. He launched the Chiu Endowment for Excellence in Mental Health for uninsured college students in central Texas and provided a cornerstone gift for Ascension Seton’s new Women’s Hospital, opening May 2026.
A committed advocate for the Asian American community, Mr. Chiu has personally underwritten initiatives, including the 2024 “Spread AAPI Love” nationwide storytelling project. In 2025, the Asian Business Development Center named him among its Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business.
